We don't have any good photos for the notes for this episode, so our apologies for the plain-ness! Next time we'll have some finished projects to show off :-)
Episode 21: Trying a New Technique
Southern California Handweavers' Guild Weaving and Fiber Festival: This Sunday 11/6 from 10-4 at the Torrance CA Civic Complex. Click Here to find more details on their website.
What's On Wendy's Sticks:
- Finished my Butterfly Phone Purse - yay! I'll have the pattern as a free download on Ravelry later today. There are more details about this project in this previous post.
- Finished the Pencil Roving Clown Colored Glory Purse for my neice which I described in my previous post.
- Finished the Travelling Sock Pattern for our upcoming Travelling Sock Knit-Along. Thanks to abitknottie for getting the idea for this KAL going, working out the details of the even, and helping to edit the pattern. On the next podcast, we'll have dates to share for registration and the KAL!
- Still spinning my 4oz of alpaca/silk :-)
- Mystery Sock IV is coming along well! My plan is to start this KAL mid-January, with kits being available in December.
- I downloaded Eve by Julia Mueller because my hands are cold in the morning now. I'm going to cast this on soon, from the Buffalo yarn I bought at Vogue.
What's On Kelie's Sticks:
- Transition Point Socks from the STR club - going well!
- Swirl Shawl Swirls are done, and the shawl is ready for blocking!!! Kelie thanks everyone for their messages of support after the last podcast - it really helped her to get her swirls done by Halloween!
- She's about to cast on her Opposite Pole sweater now that those swirls are done :-)
Gift Knitting Boot Camp: October was another success for our Boot Camp Gift Knitters, and now we are down to the last month! Kelie is done with her gift knitting (as far as she knows today...) and I have a few mini-socks left to make. Photos next time :-)
Seaside Shawlette KAL: Ongoing through 11/11/11! The pattern is a free download on Ravelry - join us! If you can't join us for this KAL, the Dozen Shawls in 20dozen group will be knitting this shawl in January, and I'm sure they would like to have more knitters.
Our Fundraiser Was a Huge Success! We raised $840 for Susan G Komen through our Bridge of Roses Kit sales - congratulations to everyone who participated! Judy sends her thanks to everyone who helped her exceed her fundraising goal for the upcoming 3-Day Walk. She walks Nov 18-20 - wish her luck!
Kelie has been trying Lever Knitting lately and let us know how it's going. Here's a link to the Yarn Harlot's video on this technique if you are curious. The demonstration goes fast for this production style of hand-knitting.
Podcast Prize Giveaway! Our October winner is Diane (aka dialua on Ravelry). Congrats! She won a cute Knit Happy Take-along Tote. We'll be giving away another tote bag in November. To be entered in the random drawing, just leave a comment below!

OMG!!! I went to Ravelry and looked at the Opposite Pole sweater. That is gorgeous. I have to make one, too. How does the front stay together? Now to look for yarn! I haven't made a sweater in years. This should be fun.
